About Leo

Leo Gal is an active competitor and well-rounded striking coach at Element Martial Arts, bringing experience across boxing, kickboxing, MMA, and grappling to every session. He began his martial arts journey after years of playing team sports, initially training in boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to learn self-defence and challenge himself in a new way. It didn’t take long before training became a passion, and Leo immersed himself fully in the sport.

As a coach, Leo’s style is supportive, motivating, and highly adaptable. He takes the time to understand each individual, tailoring his coaching to help students build confidence, skill, and fitness at their own pace. For beginners, his priority is creating a fun, friendly environment where anyone feels comfortable stepping onto the mats and learning something new. With more experienced students, Leo focuses on developing fight IQ — teaching clear systems and patterns that improve decision-making in live exchanges.

Leo is driven by progression and overcoming challenges, both as an athlete and a coach. His proudest moment as a competitor came in 2025 when he won the Australian Clubs Boxing Championships, while as a coach, nothing tops being in the corner for teammates Jacob and Louis as they secured their title wins. Above all, Leo emphasises a growth mindset: small improvements over time, patience in the process, and consistency as the key to long-term success.

Outside the gym, you’ll usually find Leo grinding FIFA Ultimate Team — or surprising people with the fact that he can play the saxophone, having been on a music scholarship in high school.
