About Ty
Ty Campbell is a striking and kids coach at Element Martial Arts, known for creating a supportive, inclusive environment where beginners feel safe to learn and more experienced athletes are pushed to grow. His coaching is built on respect, positivity, and strong fundamentals — making sure every student feels welcome while still being challenged to improve.
Before martial arts, Ty grew up playing a range of sports, with basketball being his main focus. After stepping away from team sports, he was introduced to martial arts by his brother, and quickly found a new passion. What started as something to try soon became a daily pursuit, with Ty fully committing to developing his skills across MMA, striking, and grappling.
When coaching beginners, Ty places a strong emphasis on fundamentals: stance, movement, basic strikes, simple grappling, and building good habits from day one. Just as importantly, he focuses on creating a positive culture so students enjoy their training and feel confident coming back. With intermediate and advanced athletes, Ty looks for small technical adjustments that make a big difference under pressure, helping them shape a style that plays to their individual strengths.
As an athlete, one of Ty’s proudest moments was overcoming a difficult injury and proving his resilience by winning an interstate MMA fight. As a coach, his motivation comes from striving to be the best he can be at the sport, and from the atmosphere and people at the gym — something he looks forward to being part of every day.
Ty firmly believes consistency matters more than talent. Progress, in his eyes, comes from repeated effort, showing up consistently, and trusting the process. While talent might create flashes of success, it’s consistency that builds real skill, fitness, and confidence over time.
Outside the gym, Ty is a self-described homebody — big on downtime, recharging, and keeping things balanced.
